Understanding Homeless for Teens

Every year the number of homeless on our streets increases by 25 percent.  "Homeless" is no longer the man pushing the shopping cart down the street.  They are men, women, children, families, drug addicts, alcoholics, and yesterdays unemployed.

This program presents 5 case studies of "types" of homeless.  They include substance abuse, recently unemployed, a veteran, a woman, the mentally ill, and others.  Experts in the field clearly explain who "the homeless" are, and perhaps more importantly, are not!

Viewers will meet the homeless up close- hear their needs, look into their lives, and learn how they can possibly be helped.  Options to panhandling are discussed, as well as practical ways to reach out.  A sobering, heart-felt ending makes this program unforgettable!
